Chemical peels at our Mermaid Waters clinic. A peel applies an
exfoliating acid to the surface of the skin to accelerate the shedding of dead skin
cells.
A solution containing an exfoliating acid is applied to the skin. It speeds up the
exfoliation process, so that surface skin cells shed and are replaced.
Peels can be considered for a range of skin concerns including congestion, pigmentation,
texture and fine lines. The type and strength of peel depends on your skin, and not every
skin is suitable for every peel. Suitability is assessed at consultation.
Stop using active skincare products at least five days beforehand. Tell us about any
recent sun exposure, and about any medication you are taking.
A chemical peel deliberately injures the surface of the skin. It is not suitable for everyone.
Avoid sun exposure, makeup and exfoliants for up to two weeks afterwards. Sun protection is essential.
Most people describe a stinging sensation while the solution is on the skin. This differs between people and between peel strengths.
A course of peels is usually recommended. Individual responses vary.
Individual responses and results vary. The outcome experienced by one
person does not necessarily reflect what another person will experience. Some people see
little or no change. We cannot and do not guarantee an outcome.
Skin treatments at our clinic are performed by our skin therapists, Aymie Lottier
and Alisha Roth. They are not registered health practitioners and do not perform
cosmetic injection or thread procedures.
Every procedure begins with a consultation at our Mermaid Waters clinic, where we
assess whether it is appropriate for you, explain the risks and recovery, and give
you a written treatment plan including costs. Attending a consultation does not mean
a procedure will be recommended — sometimes we advise against one, and cosmetic
procedures are not the only way to address concerns about appearance.
