A consultation about options for skin hydration, texture and firmness, at our Mermaid Waters clinic.
Some options involve prescription medicines. Whether a prescription medicine is suitable
for you can only be determined at a consultation, after the risks, contraindications and
alternatives have been discussed. For that reason we do not describe or price those
medicines on this website.
People aged 18 and over who want to discuss skin hydration, texture or firmness. Attending a consultation does not
mean a procedure will be recommended. Skin hydration and collagen production change normally over the course of life; that is not in itself a reason to have a procedure. We will discuss alternatives including skincare and sun protection, and whether doing nothing is reasonable — it often is.
This is an invasive procedure and it carries risk. It is not suitable for everyone.
Most people return to normal activity the same day. Bruising at the injection points can be visible for several days.
A small number of injections are made at set points. Pain thresholds differ between people.
Change in skin quality is gradual, generally over 6–8 weeks. Ageing is a normal process and this procedure does not stop or reverse it. An initial course of appointments is normally required, followed by maintenance. Individual responses vary and some people see limited change.
Individual responses and results vary. The outcome experienced by one
person does not necessarily reflect what another person will experience. Some people see
little or no change. We cannot and do not guarantee an outcome.
You can check any practitioner’s registration on the
Ahpra Register of practitioners.
Every procedure begins with a consultation at our Mermaid Waters clinic, where we
assess whether it is appropriate for you, explain the risks and recovery, and give
you a written treatment plan including costs. Attending a consultation does not mean
a procedure will be recommended — sometimes we advise against one, and cosmetic
procedures are not the only way to address concerns about appearance.
