IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is an effective way to permanently remove unwanted hair. It’s affordable, long-lasting and perfectly safe. The treated area may look slightly red and feel a little tender immediately after but this is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. The time it takes to complete an IPL session will depend on the area of your unwanted hair, however most appointments take around 30 minutes. It’s quick, convenient and it’ll save you time carrying out other hair removal tasks at home.

The IPL system I use is proven to work on almost every skin type, apart from dark toned skin. There is a need for there to be a strong contrast between the melanin in the skin and the targeted hair follicles. With darker skin tones, there is a danger of the light being absorbed by melanin in the skin, in addition to the hair follicle.
Once your skin is cleaned and primed, a cooling gel is spread over the treatment area. The IPL handpiece is then applied to the skin and pulses of light (shot) are released from the handpiece and begin to disable unwanted hair. If you have never experienced IPL before, we will test and monitor the area to ensure there are no reactions. You will feel a subtle ‘zap’ underneath the headpiece and but this varies from skin type to hair thickness.
Our state-of-the-art machine, has an in-built cooling system which reduces the amount of heat felt in the skin. When the gel is removed, much of the treated hair is wiped off with it. The remaining hair in the treated area falls out over the next two weeks.
You must not pluck, epilate or wax for 6 weeks prior to your IPL treatment to allow the hair to go through a full hair growth cycle. You are able to shave the area during this time. You should shave the area the day before the appointment.
You must not have any fake tan on the skin at the appointment. We recommend not using fake tan for 2 weeks prior to the appointment. If you come to your appointment with fake tan on the treatment area, we are unable to treat you.
The skin should be clean and clear of deodorant and creams prior to the treatment. You should also avoid using creams containing Vitamin A or Retinol prior to your appointment. Laser hair removal Perth has never been so convenient.
Sessions times will vary depending on the area treated. A small area like upper lip may take 15 minutes but a large area, such as full leg or back, will take much longer.
